How to Fix Getting “This Accessory May Not Be Supported” on iPhone?.

Using counterfeit, worn, or damaged accessories on your iPhone may cause the “This accessory may not be supported” warning to appear. Foreign particles on the accessory connector(s) or Lightning port of your device can also cause this error.

Software related failure is another factor worth mentioning. This post provides seven possible solutions to the problem and other similar warnings.

The specific warning may vary depending on your iPhone model or operating system. “This accessory is not supported by this iPhone”, “This accessory may not be supported”, and “The accessory is not supported” are common variants of this error. But their troubleshooting solutions are the same.

1. Reconnect the Cable

Your iPhone may occasionally display a warning message by mistake. When the warning appears on the screen, click the “OK” or “Reject” button in the pop-up window and disable the accessory. Wait a few seconds and reconnect the cable to your iPhone or iPad.

This may temporarily fix the problem, but the warning may reappear after a while, especially if the accessory is faulty.

Proceed to the next troubleshooting solution if the accessory still doesn’t work on your iPhone and other devices.

2. Shut Down or Reboot Your iPhone

The error can also be related to a temporary software glitch. Restart your iPhone if it keeps showing “This accessory might not be supported” when you connect the charging cable.

Open the Settings app, select General, tap Power Off, and wait 30 seconds for iPhone to turn off completely.

After that, connect the cable to the power adapter and connect the Lightning connector to your iPhone. If your iPhone won’t charge or restart automatically, the charging cable or adapter is likely defective or damaged. Reboot your iPhone manually (press and hold the power button) and try the following troubleshooting solution.

3. Confirm the Accessory Compatibility

Not all Apple accessories will work on your device, especially if you’re using an older iPhone or iPad. If the warning continues to appear, your iPhone does not support the accessory. Connect the accessory to other devices and check if everything is in order.

Contact the manufacturer if you are not sure if the accessory is compatible with your iPhone.

4. Clean Your Charging Cable and Power Adapter

Your iPhone may charge slowly or may not charge due to interference from foreign particles. Inspect both ends of the charging cable and make sure that there is no dirt, debris, lint or dirt on their surface.

Disconnect both ends of the cable from iPhone and power adapter. After that, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the Lightning connector of the cable. You can also use a cotton swab or dry paper, but be careful not to leave marks. To clean the USB connector, insert a soft toothbrush and gently stroke the bristles horizontally. This should remove dirt, debris, and other particles from the connector.

You should also check the USB port on the charger (power adapter) for foreign particles. Then clean the USB port of the charger, plug in the Lightning cable, and charge your iPhone. If the warning reappears, plug the charger into a different power source and see if that solves the problem.

Do not clean accessories with any liquid material, even water. Doing so may cause corrosion or damage to the metal pins on the USB and Lightning connectors. For detailed instructions on cleaning Apple products and accessories, see this Apple Support document.

5. Clean Your iPhone Charging Port

Foreign particles in your iPhone’s charging port can cause the “This accessory may not be supported” error. Inspect your iPhone’s charging port with a flashlight and remove any foreign objects you find.

Spray compressed air from a gas sprayer (compressed air) into the port. This is a safer way to remove dirt and grime from tiny holes in electronic devices without damaging fragile parts.

Alternatively, insert a flat toothpick or a pointed cotton swab into the port and gently clean any foreign matter. Try not to clean the port too fast or too hard, so that particles are not thrown further into the port.

Again, don’t use sharp or metal objects (pins, paper clips, needles, etc.) to remove foreign particles from your iPhone’s port. They will damage the metal contacts in the port. Likewise, do not blow air from your mouth into the port. The air you breathe out of your mouth contains moisture or tiny water droplets that can damage your iPhone.

6. Try a Different Accessory

Apple recommends that you charge your iPhone (and iPad) with original accessories. So make sure you use chargers from the Apple online store or offline stores.

If you’re using an original Apple Lightning to USB cable, check if it has any of the following labels:

Designed by Apple in California, assembled in ChinaDesigned by Apple in California, assembled in VietnamDesigned by Apple in California, Brazil.

These labels must also end with a 12-digit serial number. Third party cables are unlabeled. Therefore, look for the Made for Apple (MFI) label or certification on non-Apple charging accessories. The label can be found on the packaging of certified third party accessories.

If there is no serial number or MFI label on the cable, it is fake. There are many third party accessories with fake MFI labels. Therefore, we recommend using Apple’s accessory finder tool to make sure your charger or cable is MFI certified.

Open the tool in your web browser and search for your cable in Apple’s database using its brand name, model number, Universal Product Code (UPC), or European Part Number (EAN). You will find these numbers/codes on the cable packaging or on the product page on the manufacturer’s website.

We also recommend that you read the Apple Support white paper on identifying counterfeit or uncertified charging accessories.

7. Update Your iPhone

Some accessories may require the latest version of iOS to function properly, according to Apple. Install the latest iOS update on your iPhone if none of these troubleshooting solutions fix the error.

Connect to a Wi-Fi network, go to Settings > General > Software Update, and click Download and Install to update your iOS device.

If your iPhone displays a warning without accessories connected, the Lightning port is likely filled with foreign particles. Clearing the port should stop the notification – see instructions in method #4 above. If the problem persists, contact Apple Support or visit your nearest Apple Store.

How to Share an iCloud Calendar on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Sharing your calendar is a great way to keep everyone up to date. It benefits families with dental visits, football practice, school events and social activities. All family members can keep up to date with the latest events.

Anyone using an Apple device and sharing a calendar can see what’s happening on any device using sync. We’ll show you how to share your iCloud calendar on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and iCloud.com, as well as show you the settings you can change.

How to Share an iCloud Calendar

You can share an existing iCloud calendar or create a new calendar specifically for sharing if you prefer. You can’t currently share your calendar with other accounts synced with the Apple Calendar app, such as Google Calendar, Yahoo, or Exchange.

Sharing on iPhone and iPad

Open the Calendar app on your iPhone or iPad.Select Calendars to display a list of calendars. On an iPad, it’s the icon in the upper left corner.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar you want to share.In the Available section, select Add User.

Enter the person’s name or email address, or use the plus sign to select from your contacts. You can add multiple people at the same time.Click Add and then Done.

You will then see the person’s name in the Edit Calendar window, the word “Pending” is displayed below their name, which will disappear once they accept your invitation.

Sharing on Mac

Open the Calendar app on your Mac.Select the Calendar icon at the top left to display a list of calendars.Select the Contact icon that appears to the right of the calendar, or choose Edit > ” Share Calendar in Edit > Share Calendar. Menu bar.In the “Share with” section of the pop-up window, enter the person’s name and select from the suggestions that appear. Do the same to add more people.

You will see the person’s email address displayed in the field. A question mark appears next to their name until they accept the invitation. Once accepted, the question mark is replaced by a check mark.

Visit iCloud.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and select Calendar.Select the Share Calendar icon to the right of the calendar name on the left side.Check the Private Calendar box. Enter a person’s name in the “Add Person” field and select from the options provided. Do the same to add another person.Click OK.

Just like on a Mac, you’ll see a question mark next to the person’s name while their invitation is pending.

Adjust the Sharing Permissions

You have two ways to share your iCloud calendar: view/edit or view only. You can choose one of the options the first time you share your calendar, or later.

Permissions on iPhone and iPad

Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar.Under “Available” you’ll see the names and current permissions of who you’ve shared the calendar with. s, whether they have accepted yet or not. Select a person.To allow viewing and editing, turn on the Allow editing switch.To allow viewing only, turn off the Allow editing switch.

Mac Permissions

Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Select a calendar and use the contact icon on the right, or Edit > Share Settings in the menu bar.Select a person and use the drop-down arrow to right to your name to display permissions.Choose View Only or View and Edit.

Visit iCloud.com and open Calendar.Select the Share Calendar icon to the right of the calendar name on the left.Select a person and use the drop-down arrow to the right of their name to display permissions.Select ” View Only” or “View and Edit” and click OK.

Change Notifications for a Shared Calendar

The way you change the notifications and alerts you receive for a shared iCloud calendar varies by device. If you want to stop receiving alerts, you can do so on iPhone and iPad, but if you want to limit the number of alerts, you have options on Mac and iCloud.com.

Notifications on iPhone and iPad

Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar.Turn off the toggle for event notifications and tap Done.

Notifications on Mac

On a Mac, you can change notifications at the account level, not at the calendar level. However, you have the option to stop seeing shared calendar messages in the Notification Center.

Open the Calendar app and select Calendar > Preferences from the menu bar.Click on the Alerts tab in the window that appears.Uncheck “Show general calendar messages in Action Center” at the bottom.< /li>

Optionally, you can set up alerts for all iCloud calendars using the settings at the top. You can also apply these settings only to your Mac.

Notifications on iCloud.com

Notifications for Calendar on iCloud.com are also a bit limited, but you have a few options.

Visit iCloud.com and open Calendar.Use the gear icon at the bottom left to open the Actions menu and select Settings.Under the General tab, uncheck the Alerts section at the bottom . This will prevent default notifications from being added to new calendar events. Note that this applies to all calendars in your iCloud account. On the Advanced tab, uncheck the Event Updates section to stop receiving shared calendar update emails. Keep in mind that this will apply to all shared iCloud calendars.Click Save at the bottom to apply the changes.

Stop Sharing iCloud Calendar

Removing someone from your iCloud calendar is an easy way to stop sharing. On Mac and iCloud.com, you can also immediately stop sharing your calendar with everyone.

Stop sharing on iPhone and iPad

Open the Calendar app and access your calendar list.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar.In the Available section, select the person’s name.Select Store Sharing and confirm with Delete.

Stop Sharing on Mac

Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Select a calendar and click the Contact icon on the right.Select a person and press the Delete key.

In addition, you can stop calendar sharing from everyone at the same time. Select the calendar and go to Edit > Stop Sharing from the menu bar. Confirm by selecting “Close Sharing” in the pop-up window.

Stop sharing on iCloud.com

Visit iCloud.com and open Calendar.Select the Share Calendar icon to the right of the calendar name.Select a person and use the drop-down arrow to select Delete User.< /ol>

To prevent the calendar from being shared with everyone, deselect the Private Calendar (or Shared Calendar) check box. Click OK, and then select Stop Sharing from the pop-up window.

Use a Public Calendar

Another view-only calendar sharing option that is useful for displaying events such as work or school schedules or organization events for iCloud is to create a public calendar.

Open the Calendar app and access your calendar list.Tap the Info icon to the right of the calendar.Turn on the Shared Calendar toggle at the bottom.To send the link using Share Sheet, tap “Share Link” and select an option.

Follow the same steps, turn off the “Open Calendar” toggle and click “Done” to stop sharing your calendar.

Shared Calendar on Mac

Open the Calendar app and access the list of calendars.Select a calendar and click the Contact icon on the right.Check the “Shared Calendar” box.Use the “Share” button next to the link to Share the link using the Share menu on Mac.

To stop calendar sharing, follow the same steps to uncheck Public Calendar and select Done.

Shared Calendar on iCloud.com

Visit iCloud.com and open Calendar.Select the Share Calendar icon to the right of the calendar name.Select the Shared Calendar checkbox.Select the Email or Copy Link link » under the calendar. URL to send link.

To stop sharing your calendar, follow the same steps to uncheck “Open Calendar” and confirm the action by clicking “Turn off sharing”.

Sharing calendars has many benefits. You can see the other person’s work schedule and allow them to see theirs, check upcoming appointments, and plan activities together.

How to Set Up Your New Apple Watch.

Despite cutting-edge hardware with great software, you can’t just turn on your Apple Watch and expect it to work right away. Instead, you have to go through a rather lengthy process that involves pairing your watchOS device with your iPhone before you can start using it.

Not only can your Apple Watch work as an extension for various apps and services on your iPhone, but the Watch app built into iOS also makes it easy to manage and customize various aspects of watchOS.

Whether you treat yourself to a new Apple Watch or receive one as a gift, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about pairing it with your iPhone. If you’ve used Apple Watch before, you can also restore an old backup and pick up where you left off.

Note. You can only pair your Apple Watch with an iPhone 6s or later with iOS 15 or later. You can’t connect your watchOS device to your iPad.

Before You Start

Before pairing your new Apple Watch with your iPhone, prepare for the task ahead by doing the following:

Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS. To do this, open the Settings app and go to General > Software Update. Place your Apple Watch on the magnetic charger and connect it to a power source such as a USB charger or a USB port on your Mac or PC. Connect iPhone to a wireless network or activate cellular data. You can access Wi-Fi and cellular settings through the Settings app.Make sure the Bluetooth radio on your smartphone is active. Open Control Center (swipe down from the top right corner of the screen or double-tap the Home button) and tap the Bluetooth icon if it’s not active. Back up and reset your old Apple Watch (optional).

Set Up Apple Watch

You are now ready to set up your Apple Watch. The steps below may differ slightly depending on your new watch model and your country/region.

1. Press and hold the side button (under the crown) on your Apple Watch for a few seconds until the Apple logo appears.

2. Wait until the Bring iPhone to Apple Watch screen appears.

3. Bring iPhone close to Apple Watch to open the Apple Watch pop-up window. Click “Continue” to start pairing.

4. Click Customize for yourself.

Note. If your Apple Watch supports cellular, you can set it up for a family member. The process is essentially the same, but includes additional features such as Messages in iCloud, Emergency Contacts, and Screen Time.

5. Use the viewfinder that appears on your iPhone to view the animation on the Apple Watch screen. You don’t have to do anything other than center it on the watch face. If you’re having trouble doing this, tap the “Manual Pairing” option and follow the on-screen instructions to pair both devices.

6. Click Set Up as New Apple Watch if you’re using your Apple Watch for the first time. Or select Restore from Backup if you have a backup you want to restore.

Note. The following instructions assume that you’re setting up your Apple Watch as a new device. If you choose the latter option, select the backup on the next screen to restore it.

7. Select Left or Right for the wrist and press Continue.

8. Click “Accept” to accept the watchOS Terms of Service.

9. Tap Turn on Find My Watch. We recommend choosing this option as it links your Apple Watch with your Apple ID. This will help you remotely find, lock or wipe your smart device via iCloud if you lose it.

10. Decide if you want to enable Location Services for outdoor training – tap Turn Tracking On or Turn Off Tracking to continue.

11. Click Share with Apple if you want to share your Apple Watch usage data with Apple. Select the “Learn more about Watch Analytics” option to learn how this affects your privacy.

12. Use the slider to set the desired text size and click Continue. Or tap Set Up Later in the Apple Watch app if you want to make changes after pairing.

13. Click “Generate Password” to set up a four-digit password. Or click Add Long Password to create a 6-digit password.

Note. If you choose Don’t add a password, you will lose access to various Apple Watch features, such as Apple Pay and Unlock with Apple Watch.

14. Enter your password on the Apple Watch screen. Then enter it again to confirm.

15. Tap Continue on the Keep Your Apple Watch Up to Date screen to leave the default settings for automatic system software updates active. Or click Install Updates Manually if you want to manually update your Apple Watch.

Note. If your iPhone detects any updates to your Apple Watch, you must install them before the pairing process is complete.

16. Tap Continue on the emergency SOS and fall detection screen. Learn how emergency SOS and fall detection work on Apple Watch.

17. Click Continue on the Always On Display screen. This feature is only available on Apple Watch Series 5 and later (excluding Apple Watch SE). It keeps the display on when your wrist is down while still consuming less battery life. If this causes your Apple Watch battery to drain, you can disable this feature later.

Note. If your Apple Watch supports cellular, you’ll see the Cellular Setup screen. Click Set Up Cellular to check your carrier’s cellular plan details.

18. Tap Install All on the Install Available Apps screen to install Apple Watch versions of apps on iPhone. Or click “Select Later”.

19. Choose between grid view and list view. This affects how your apps appear when you press the Digital Crown. Then click Continue.

20. Wait for the Apple Watch and your iPhone to finish syncing. This may take 10 to 15 minutes.

21. Tap OK on the Welcome to Apple Watch screen to complete the setup process.

Use the Watch App

Now that you’ve finished setting up your Apple Watch, it’s best to spend a few minutes getting to know the Watch app on your iPhone. It consists of three tabs that you can use to manage all aspects of watchOS.

My watch. This tab lets you customize various aspects of your Apple Watch, such as managing notifications, configuring Siri, installing and uninstalling companion apps, and more.

Gallery of dials. On this tab, you can add and edit watch faces and add-ons.
