Step 1: Design the Stickers

For this step, you will need some kind of image editing software. Don’t worry if you’re not a graphic design master – creating stickers for Telegram is incredibly easy. Many stickers are ridiculously simple meme-style images created from free stock photos and random quotes.

However, each sticker has several requirements. Telegram stickers must:

be a single image file in WEBP or PNG formathave a transparent backgroundbe 512 x 512 pixels in size

Several image editing apps will let you create Telegram stickers, including Photoshop+For+iPad+Worth+The+Money+&+The+Hype?”>Adobe Photoshop (paid), GIMP (free), and SVG-edit (free and online). For this tutorial, we will be using GIMP.

To create images:

Open GIMP, select “File” and select “New”.

In the Image Size section, enter 512 for Width and Height.

Open the Fill drop-down menu and select Transparency.

Note. You need to make the background of your image transparent. Here’s how to do it with GIMP and Photoshop.

When your sticker is ready, choose File > Export As.

In the File Type Selection section, make sure PNG is selected, then select Export.

Repeat this as many times as you like. Sticker packs usually contain 10-20 stickers, but there may be more – there are no restrictions.

Keep in mind that some quotes and images will be copyrighted, which means that if you use them in your stickers and Telegram finds out about it, your sticker will be deleted. Use free stock images from sites like Pexels or Freepik.

Step 2: Using the Telegram Sticker Bot to Create Your Pack

The next step is to download the stickers and create a sticker pack. You can do this on your Android/iPhone or desktop via the Telegram app, although Telegram recommends using the desktop version.

To create your package:

Open Telegram.

In the app, type “Stickers” in the search box at the top left. (In the app, select the Magnifying Glass icon in the top right corner of the window, then type in Stickers.)

Select the Stickers bot to start a conversation with it. It will display a list of commands, the most important being /newpack and /addsticker.

Type /newpack and press Enter. Type a short name for the sticker set and press Enter again. The bot will ask you to upload your sticker.

Drag the PNG file to the chat window.

Send an emoji related to the sticker. Congratulations, you have uploaded your first sticker.

Repeat these steps for each sticker. When you’re done, type /publish to complete your sticker set. You will now be able to upload a 100 x 100 px PNG image as an icon for the sticker pack. You can upload this image in the same way as described above, or simply skip this step by typing /skip. Lastly, add a name that people can use to find your sticker pack and you’re done. The URL where you can share the Telegram sticker set will include this name.

That’s all! You have now created your own sticker pack.

Telegram lets you go back and add or remove stickers from any existing pack as you wish, so don’t worry if you plan on adding more later. Another cool feature is that Telegram gives you usage statistics on how often your sticker pack is used.

Once the package is created, anyone you share it with can start using these stickers. But be aware that any sticker packs you upload will be public, so don’t upload stickers containing anything you don’t want people to see.

Open Telegram and open a conversation in the left panel.
