Audio issues on Netflix can ruin your streaming experience. If you are watching a movie on Netflix and the Netflix audio seems to be out of sync – either slightly ahead or lagging behind the picture – we show you nine ways to fix the problem.

1. Check Your Internet Connection
You need a high-speed internet connection to enjoy optimal streaming on Netflix. For example, 3 megabits per second (3 Mbps) is the recommended internet download speed for streaming standard definition (SD) content to Netflix. High definition (HD) and ultra high definition (UHD or 4K) movies require download speeds of at least 5 Mbps and 25 Mbps, respectively.
If your internet connection is weak, slow, or unstable, you may notice a mismatch between audio and video on your device. Netflix can also display different error codes during video playback.
Luckily, you can check your internet connection speed using the Netflix app or the web interface. Open Netflix, tap your profile icon, select App Settings, and tap Check Internet Speed.
A browser tab will open and redirect you to Fast.com, Netflix’s speed test tool that displays information about your internet connection. The speed on the results page is the current download speed of your connection. Click or tap Show Information to display additional information such as download speed, connection latency, server location, and more.
If the download speed in the network test results is lower than Netflix recommended, please close other data-intensive applications and processes on your device and try streaming again. For example, pausing all ongoing downloads can help free up network bandwidth and increase your internet speed.
If you are using a Wi-Fi connection, disconnecting unused or unknown devices from the network can also increase the connection speed. But if your internet connection remains slow, please restart your wireless router and try again.

2. Force Close Netflix
Do this if Netflix audio is out of sync on the Netflix app on your smartphone or tablet. On iPhone and iPad, double-tap the Home button, or swipe up from the bottom of the screen and swipe up on the Netflix preview to close the app.
To force close Netflix on Android, go to Settings> Apps & Notifications> All Apps> Netflix> Force Stop and click OK.

If you are using a Fire TV device, go to Settings> Apps> Manage Installed Apps> Netflix and click Force Stop to quit Netflix.
Press the Home button, restart Netflix and check if the audio in the app is now syncing with the visual output.
On Apple TV, press the Home button twice, select Netflix in the app switcher, and swipe up on the touchpad to force close Netflix. Go back to the Apple TV control panel (press Menu on the remote), open Netflix again, check if the audio is working properly when watching a movie. 3. Clear Netflix’s Cache
You may face this issue when streaming content on Netflix if the app cache data on your device is corrupted. If you are facing this issue on your iPhone or iPad, simply closing and reopening Netflix will clear the app cache and hopefully fix the problem.

- Press and hold or right-click the Netflix app icon and tap the app info.
- Click Force Stop and then click OK to close the application.
Restart Netflix and check if the visual and audio components of your streaming content are in sync.

4. Disable Browser Extension
Many third-party extensions make Netflix work better on your web browser. Netflix Party (now called Teleparty) is very popular. The Chrome extension creates a virtual cinema experience, allowing you to watch movies and shows with your friends at the same time.
These extensions, if they are buggy or out of date, can interfere with video playback and cause Netflix audio to get out of sync when streaming. Disable any active Netflix plug-ins and check if this restores Netflix audio and video output in unison.

If the problem persists after disabling Netflix extensions, close and reopen your browser and try again. You also need to make sure your browser has the latest version.
To update Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, go to Settings> About Chrome or Settings> About Microsoft Edge, respectively. For Mozilla Firefox, go to Settings> General> Firefox Updates and click Check for Updates.

Netflix updates contain bug fixes and performance improvements. If the Netflix audio in the app doesn’t sync up all the time, go to the app store on your device and update Netflix to the latest version.

Sometimes restarting the device will restore normal Netflix audio. Turn off the device, wait a minute or two, and then turn it back on.
