Firefox Containers: Use Them to Organize Your Online Life.

See if this sounds familiar. You just read about a new phone and now every ad you see on the internet is about the phone. Almost every site tracks your activity to show you ads that you are more likely to click on.

How Multi-Account Containers Add-on Can Increase Your Privacy

Here are some ways to use multi-account containers to not only organize your web experience, but also increase your privacy and reduce your web presence.

Sign in to multiple accounts on the same website. For example, if you manage a work email account and also have a personal email account, you can sign in to both at the same time by putting them in different containers.Prevent trackers. Separating activity across different accounts can help prevent your activity from being tracked. For example, you can separate your purchases from social media so you don’t receive targeted ads. Combining multi-account containers with a privacy-focused ad blocker like uBlock is a powerful way to significantly reduce your digital presence.

Firefox Containers: Use Them to Organize Your Online Life

Consolidate multi-account containers with Mozilla VPN. Mozilla VPN is now available in select countries and integrates with multi-account containers to add an extra layer of security for certain tabs. This means you can bypass geo-blockers to access your bank (and other websites) while abroad.Reduce security risks. Because all of your containers are separate, if you fall victim to a phishing attack, the attacker will only have access to the data inside that container.Stay focused. Separating personal and work browsing can help you stay focused while avoiding tempting tabs while you’re trying to be productive.

Privacy is Security

It’s hard to keep your data private these days. Hundreds of companies have access to your personal information and use it to create a profile that tracks your browsing habits and suggests you the ads they think you’re most likely to click on.

To mitigate this and prevent websites from tracking you, use multi-account containers. The advantage is that you can separate your personal and work habits to better focus and organize your life.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips.

By bookmarking a web page, you can quickly access it without having to search again. While the bookmarking feature in Mozilla Firefox is handy, it can quickly become inefficient if you have too many bookmarks.

Read  :Add Bookmarks Toolbar Button to Google Chrome

To help you organize and manage your Firefox bookmarks, we’ve put together this list of tips. Use one or all of them to get the best use of bookmarks in your favorite web browser.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

1. Add Bookmarks the Easy Way

You can bookmark a page in Firefox in several ways. Use any of the following methods that are most convenient for you.

Select the star icon in the address bar.Choose Bookmarks from the menu and choose Bookmark Current Tab or Bookmark All Tabs. Use the keyboard. keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + D on Windows or Command + Shift + D on Mac.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

After using one of these methods, you can customize the name, select the location, and optionally add a tag. When you’re done, select Save.

2. See All of Your Bookmarks

A lot can be done in the library containing your bookmarks. You can not only see all your bookmarks in one place, but also sort, edit, search, tag, transfer bookmarks, etc.

Select Bookmarks from the menu and choose Manage Bookmarks. The library will open in a pop-up window.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

On the left, you’ll see all the bookmarks, which you can expand to see the bookmark toolbar, bookmark menu, and any folders you create.

Select an item in the left sidebar and you’ll see a list of its bookmarks on the right.

3. Sort or Search the Bookmarks Library

To make it easier to find bookmarks in categories, you can sort or search the library.

Select Views (three rows on Mac) and use the Show Columns options to select the columns you want to see in the library.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

You can then sort the bookmarks using the same Views button on the toolbar. Choose a sort option from the pop-up menu. Also, you can select a column heading to sort by that particular column.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

If you want to search for a specific bookmark, enter a keyword in the Search Bookmarks box at the top of the library.

4. Organize Firefox Bookmarks Using Folders

You can add folders and subfolders to keep related bookmarks together for quick access. For example, you might have folders for news, timers, games, or recipes.

Select the location on the left where you want to add the new folder.Select Organize (gear icon on Mac) and choose Add Folder.Name the folder and click Save.< / ol>

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

You can then select a folder as the location when adding a new bookmark or dragging an existing site to the Bookmarks folder in the library.

5. Put Your Bookmarks in the Right Order

When you open the Library window, you can arrange your bookmarks by changing their order. This will help you find the ones you use the most by putting them at the top of the list and the ones you rarely use at the bottom.

To reorder bookmarks, select and drag one of them up or down to a new position. In the same way, you can change the order of the folders on the left sidebar or in the list on the right.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

6. Section Bookmarks Using Separators

Dividers are horizontal lines that separate bookmarks when they are displayed. They can be handy for grouping bookmarks into sections.

Select the location or folder where you want to add the separator.Select Organize (gear icon on Mac) and select Add Separator.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

Move the separator to the desired position by dragging it up or down.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

To remove the separator later, open the library window, right-click the separator and select Delete.

7. Give Your Bookmarks Meaningful Names

When you bookmark a web page, you cannot change the default display name. In some cases, the name may be long or simply unrecognizable. Luckily, you can rename the bookmark to something more meaningful to you.

Select a location in the Library sidebar, and then select the bookmark on the right. You will see the Name field. Replace the existing text with the name you prefer.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

8. Use Tags to Categorize Bookmarks

Similar to flagging or labeling emails, you can bookmark bookmarks to categorize them. This is useful if you don’t want to create a folder for related bookmarks, or if you want to apply the same tag to bookmarks that are in different folders.

As an example, let’s say you have folders for Google Apps and Microsoft Apps. You can apply the spreadsheet tag to Google Sheets in the first folder and Excel in the second. You can then view both bookmarks in your list using the tag.

Apply the tag when you first bookmark the page by typing it in the Tags field or by selecting an existing tag from the drop-down list.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

In addition, you can apply a tag to a bookmark in a library. Select the bookmark on the right, and then enter a tag in the Tags field or select it from the drop-down menu.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

To use a tag, type it into the address bar and view the results below, or select the Tags category from the left sidebar in the library.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

To remove a tag from the library, right-click it and select “Delete”.

9. Include Keywords for Fast Access

An alternative to using tags in Firefox is to use keywords. You can enter them as tags when adding a bookmark or in a library. Just enter a keyword or phrase in the Keywords field.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

To use a keyword, enter it in the address bar. You should then see results for the bookmarks you have using that keyword.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

10. Remove Unused Bookmarks

How many bookmarks have you added that you only used once or twice, or even for a short period of time? Soon you will have more bookmarks than you use, rendering this feature useless.

You can easily delete bookmarks that you no longer need. Select a location on the left to display bookmarks on the right. Right-click the bookmark and select Delete Bookmark.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

If you want to delete the entire folder and its contents, right-click and select “Delete Folder” from the left sidebar or the list on the right.

Firefox Managing Bookmarks Tips

I hope these tips help you manage your bookmarks in Firefox. To learn more, check out how to sync bookmarks in Firefox and Opera.

Disable the built-in pdf viewer in firefox

Disable the built-in pdf viewer in firefox,Disable the Default Built-In PDF Viewer in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari.

Every major web browser, be it Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari, has a built-in PDF viewer that automatically opens the PDF documents you discover. While this is a quick and easy way to get started reading them, you are likely to miss out on the advanced features in your preferred PDF reader or editor. Hence, you may prefer direct download of PDFs.

The instructions below show you what you should do to disable the default built-in PDF viewer in Chrome, Firefox and Edge. This forces your browser to download PDFs to local storage. Unfortunately, you cannot do the same in Safari, but there is a useful workaround that allows you to download PDFs without opening them.

Disable the Built-In PDF Viewer in Chrome

In Google Chrome, you have the option to download PDFs instead of opening them. This also disables the browser’s built-in PDF viewer.

Mozilla Firefox not only lets you turn off the built-in PDF viewer, it also lets you choose between downloading documents and automatically opening them in the default PDF viewer on your computer.

1. Open the Firefox menu (select the icon with three rows of lines in the upper right corner of the screen) and select Preferences.

If you want to re-enable the PDF viewer in Firefox, repeat the steps above, but select “Open in Firefox” in step 3.

Disable the Built-in PDF Viewer in Edge

As with Chrome, you can configure Microsoft Edge to upload PDFs to local storage. All it takes is a short visit to the browser settings page.

Bypass the PDF Viewer and Force-Download PDFs in Safari

Unlike other browsers, you don’t have the option to turn off the PDF viewer in the native Safari browser on Mac. But you can download the PDF without opening it.

To do this, simply hold down the Option key while selecting the link that points to the PDF file. Practice here.

However, if your Mac has an older version of macOS (such as macOS 10.13 High Sierra or earlier), running the following command in Terminal will disable Safari’s built-in PDF viewer:

by default write com.apple.Safari WebKitOmitPDFSupport -bool YES

Note. If you want to reactivate the PDF viewer later, repeat the same command replacing YES with NO.
