How to Restart Your iPad.

You may need to restart your iPad to improve performance or troubleshoot software issues. The restart process is also referred to as a soft reset. This guide provides steps to reset all iPad models and generations – iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro.

Note. If your iPad does not freeze or respond, we recommend that you close all applications before restarting your device. This ensures that you don’t lose any unsaved data in the process.

Restart Your iPad with a Home Button

If your iPad has a home button below the screen, here’s how to turn it off and then back on.

Press and hold the iPad’s top button until the power off slider appears on the screen.

Drag the slider to the right and wait 30 seconds for your iPhone to turn off completely.

Press and hold the top button to restart your iPad. Release the button when the Apple logo appears on the iPad screen.

Restart iPad without a Home Button

Apple has removed the home button on the next-generation iPad in order to increase screen real estate without increasing the size of the device. Here’s how to reboot iPad with Face ID or Touch ID in the top button:

Press and hold the top button and the volume up or down button for 5 seconds.

Drag the power off slider to the right and wait 30 seconds for iPad to turn off.After that, press and hold the top button until iPad displays the Apple logo.

Restart Your iPad Using AssistiveTouch

The AssistiveTouch utility has a Restart option that turns off your iPadOS device and turns it on automatically. The best part is that you don’t have to press or hold any button. Here’s how to set up and use AssistiveTouch to restart your iPad:

From the Home screen, go to Settings > General > Accessibility or Settings > Accessibility > Touch on new iPad models.

Tap AssistiveTouch.

Turn on AssistiveTouch.

Tap the floating AssistiveTouch icon and select Device.

Select “More”.

Click Restart.

In the window that appears, select Restart.

You can also turn off your iPad from the iPadOS settings menu. Like this:

Open the Settings app and select General.Scroll down and select Power off.Drag the power off slider to the right and wait 30 seconds for iPhone to turn off completely. or>< /ol>

Force Reboot Your iPad

Force restart your iPad if it freezes or doesn’t respond to screen touches or button presses. The procedure depends on the configuration and location of your iPad button.

Force Restarting iPad Using the Home Button

Press and hold the power button and home button – keep holding the keys even when your iPad turns off. Release both buttons only when the Apple logo appears on the iPad display.

Force restarting an iPad that doesn’t have a home button is pretty tricky. Hold your iPad in portrait orientation and follow the steps below carefully so you don’t miss a single step:

Press and release the volume button closest to the top button.

Then press and release the volume button furthest away from the top button.

Now press and hold the top button. Hold down the button until the iPad displays the Apple logo.

iPad Stuck During Start-Up? Fix in Recovery Mode

Is your iPad stuck on the Apple logo when you turn it on? Boot your iPad into recovery mode and remotely update its operating system using a Mac or Windows computer. Restore iPad to factory settings if it still won’t turn on after installing an OS update.

Connect your computer to a high-speed Internet network and do the following:

Connect your iPad to your computer with a USB cable. If this is your first time connecting iPad to your computer, tap Trust when prompted and enter your iPad passcode.

Open Finder on Mac or iTunes on Windows and select your iPad.

If your iPad has a Home button, press and hold the Home button and the top button until the recovery mode screen appears.

For an iPad without a home button, press and immediately release the volume button closest to the top button. After that, press and release the volume button located farthest from the top button. Finally, press and hold the top button until the iPad displays the recovery mode screen.

A pop-up window should appear on your computer asking you to update or restore your iPhone. Select Update to continue.

Click Update again to continue.

Select Update and follow the instructions on the next page to download the latest version of iPadOS available for your iPad.

The software update may take from several minutes to several hours, depending on the speed of your connection. If the update takes too long, your iPad will exit recovery mode (usually after 15 minutes). So make sure your computer is connected to a high-speed Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.

Factory Reset or Hard Reset iPad

You should only factory reset your iPad if it still won’t boot past the Apple logo after the update. Keep your phone connected to your computer and boot it into recovery mode.

Press and hold the Top and Home buttons until your iPad loads the recovery page.

For an iPad without a home button, press the volume key closest to the top button and the next volume key. After that, press and hold the top button until the recovery page appears.

Select Restore from the pop-up window on your computer.

Click the Restore iPad button.

Select “Restore and Update” to start the factory reset process.

This will erase your iPad’s data, restore it to factory defaults, and install the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Contact Apple Support or visit your nearest Apple Store if all troubleshooting methods are unsuccessful.

One Final Trick

A discharged iPhone or iPad will automatically turn on when connected to a charger. If your iPad’s power button is malfunctioning, turn it off in the settings menu (Settings > General > Turn Off). Wait 20-30 seconds, connect your iPad to a power source and wait until it turns on. Better yet, restart the device via the AssistiveTouch menu.

How to Restart Your Android Phone.

Rebooting your phone has many benefits. It updates your phone’s operating system and fixes many performance-related issues and Android crashes. Let’s say your phone freezes or some apps are not responding and crashing; a quick restart might solve the problem.

Restarting Android phones is easy, but the steps may vary depending on your phone model and operating system version. If you are using an Android smartphone for the first time, we will show you different ways to restart your device.

Note. Be sure to close apps manually before restarting your Android device so you don’t lose any unsaved data.

Use Your Phone’s Power Button

Almost all brands and models of Android smartphones have a power button. Press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds to open the power menu. After that, select “Restart” to turn off the device and turn it back on.

Perform a Hard Reboot

A frozen or unresponsive Android device may not display the power menu when you press and hold the power button. Force restart (also called “hard reset” or “hard reset”) the device to turn it off and back on.

Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds. Or press and hold the Power button and Volume Down button at the same time for 7-10 seconds. Your phone will stay on a black screen for a few seconds and turn on automatically. If nothing happens, your device probably does not support this key combination. Try holding the power and volume up buttons for at least 15 seconds.

If you force restart a phone that is not frozen, the device may take a screenshot while holding down the power and volume down keys. Keep holding the keys after taking a screenshot to initiate a hard reboot.

How to Auto Restart Android Phones

Your phone may be slow and may experience problems after prolonged use. Setting your phone to automatically restart on a schedule can optimize its performance. Fortunately, some Android phone manufacturers (Samsung, for example) include an auto-restart feature in their devices.

This allows you to schedule periods (times or days) when you want your phone to automatically turn off and restart.

Open the Settings app and tap General Settings. Tap Reset and select Auto Restart. Or you can move the Auto Restart switch to the right and click Auto Restart to set the auto-restart schedule.

Make sure auto-restart is enabled, then select the day and time you want your Samsung phone to restart automatically.

On some Samsung Galaxy models, go to Settings > Battery & Care and tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner. Select “Automate” and click “Automatic restart at a specified time.” Move the switch to On. to the right and set your preferred auto restart schedule.

Your phone will only restart if:

it is not in use. the screen or display is off.SIM lock is disabled. the battery level is above 30%.

Note. The auto-restart feature supports Samsung phones pre-installed with Android 5.0 Lollipop or later. You may not find this option on older devices, even if you upgrade to Android Lollipop. In addition, carrier-linked phones may not have an automatic restart feature.

Remove and Reinsert the Battery

If your phone has a removable battery and it freezes or is not responding, remove the battery and wait a few seconds. Reinsert the battery, press and hold the power button and wait until the screen lights up. If your phone does not turn on, the battery may be dead or not inserted correctly.

Make sure the battery is inserted correctly and try again. If the problem persists, connect the charger to your phone, charge the battery for a few minutes and try again.

Restart in Safe Mode

Booting your phone in safe mode can help diagnose malware infections and fix performance issues. In safe mode, Android only loads system apps that come with your phone out of the box. Most third-party apps and other non-essential services are temporarily disabled until you boot from safe mode.

Method 1: Boot stock Android in safe mode

Here’s how to boot Pixel phones and other Android devices in safe mode.

First, you need to turn off your phone. Press and hold the power button for at least 5-7 seconds to open the power menu. Or, press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down key simultaneously for 5-7 seconds. Press and hold the Power off option until the Restart in Safe Mode pop-up appears on the page. Press ” OK” to boot Android in safe mode.

Method 2: Boot a Custom Android Phone in Safe Mode

The procedure for booting third-party phones into safe mode varies by device model and Android version.

For Samsung phones, turn off the device and wait 30 seconds. After that, press and hold the Power button and release the button when the Samsung logo appears on the screen. Press and hold the Volume Down key after releasing the Power button. Release the volume down key when the phone boots into safe mode.

Alternatively, turn off your phone, wait 30 seconds, and then press and hold the power and volume down buttons at the same time. Release the Power button when your phone’s screen lights up, but keep holding the Volume Down button. Release the button when your phone boots into safe mode. Check the bottom left corner of the screen for “Safe Mode”.

Exit Safe Mode

Reboot your phone in normal mode to exit safe mode. On some Samsung phones, you can exit safe mode from the notification panel. Swipe down from the top of your phone’s display, tap Safe Mode On, and select Turn off. This will restart your phone, exit safe mode and restore all your apps.

Restart Android Using the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) Tool

If you have a Windows, Mac, or Linux computer and your phone’s power button is broken, restart your phone using the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) tool. Install the tool on your computer, enable USB debugging on your phone, and connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable.

Then open a command prompt (on Windows) or a terminal (on macOS), type or paste adb reboot into the console, and press Enter or Return on your keyboard.

Restarting an Android phone is very easy. If your phone is still malfunctioning after a restart or hard reset, update your operating system or contact the device manufacturer. 6 Ways to Fix Delayed Auto Start Flag Error 87 in Windows 10.

Error 87 on Windows 10 comes in two different forms. In the first one you see a pop-up window with the message: “Failed to set the delayed autostart flag. Error 87. Invalid parameter. ” The second pop-up window says: “Windows cannot start Windows Update service on local computer. Error 87: The parameter is invalid. ” Notice that the error code is the same in both cases? What is error code 87 and how to fix it is what we’ll be focusing on in today’s article.

Windows users want their computers to boot quickly. One way to accomplish this is delayed startup, where certain non-core programs and applications are launched after Windows 10 boots. When you start or boot your computer, a number of services and programs start, but not all of them are necessary for your computer to function. Some examples would be Spotify, cloud storage apps, etc.

Instead of refusing to start these services, which is also possible with applications such as CCleaner or Task Manager, you can configure it to start later. This is where the “delayed autorun flag error 87” comes in. Error 87 can also show up when Windows starts the update service. We will consider all possible causes of the error and how to fix it.

Let’s start.

1. Restart

An old trick, but as you know, it works in this case. Since the error is so closely related to the boot process, it makes sense to restart your computer and check again if the pending process is working as expected.

2. Clean boot

Clean Boot disables all applications and services that are not owned or operated by Microsoft and therefore are not necessary for your Windows OS to function. This will help you fix the problem and narrow down the range of third-party applications that could be responsible for error 87. We are looking for a potential conflict.

Open System Configuration from the Start menu and under the Services tab, select the Hide all Microsoft services check box. Then you click the Disable All button, which will disable all non-Microsoft services.

Click Apply and then OK before moving on to the next tab – Launch. Click on Open Task Manager at the top to open the corresponding tab in it.

Select each individual item in the Startup tab of Task Manager and select Disable.

Return to the System Configuration section and click OK. You will now restart your computer and it will only download the core Microsoft applications and services. This is a clean boot. You can safely install, uninstall, update and troubleshoot any application. As noted earlier, error 87 also appears when updating something.

Please note that you can run any program you want and are not limited.

Now, to troubleshoot, run System Setup again and hide all Microsoft services. Turn on half of the rest of the services and restart your computer. If the problem persists, then you know which half is to blame. Keep repeating the process until you are left with the only service that is causing the error 87 pop-up.

Microsoft has also shared a detailed clean boot guide, but you’ll find the steps are the same.

3. Registry Editor

Find and open Registry Editor from the Start Menu. You will be prompted to grant administrator rights. Do this. Navigate to the folder structure below. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Services AmdPPM

Double-click the start button to open it and change the value from 3 to 4. Save changes and restart your computer to check if auto delay error 87 appears or not.

4. PowerShell

It is an enhanced version of the command line and the future of the Windows command line. Open it from the start menu and enter the command below. Get-Service -Name ServiceName | Set-Service -StartupType AutomaticDelayedStart

You will need to replace ServiceName with the name of the actual service you want to defer during the boot process.

5. SFC and DISM scans

Open a command prompt, but with administrator rights from the start menu. Click “Run as administrator” in the search.

You will give the following commands, but one at a time. sfc / scannow DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Scanhealth DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Restorehealth

These commands will search for corrupted system files, which often lead to all sorts of errors in the OS. It will then try to fix these errors and restart your computer to see if the problem is resolved.

6. Use Autoruns

Autoruns is a utility tool from Microsoft, so it’s completely safe to use the app. Instead of fiddling with task manager and system settings programs, you can use one app to manage everything related to running apps in the background or at startup.

There are other ways to work with deferred automatic launch of applications, for example, the Autoruns application, which I described above. Printer problems can be very annoying and frustrating. One of my friends just posted a status that summarizes pretty well: “We can send someone into space, robots to Mars, but I still can’t print a Word document!” I myself am very surprised how many problems I have with printers, especially wireless ones.

Over the years, printers have gotten cheaper and better quality, but terrible in terms of ease of use. HP typically includes driver CDs with their printers, which are several hundred MB in size. Indeed? Does my printer really need software the same size as Microsoft Office? I do not think so.

They also have complex installation procedures and require all sorts of installation steps that are just complicated for most consumers. I spent a good hour setting up a wireless printer and I am a technician.

My mom has never been able to install a wireless printer and it’s just sad. Printers don’t have to be so hard to use! In this article, I will try to give you general solutions to many printer problems.

Restart, restart, restart

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had printer problems and I just restarted everything and then printed fine. In my case, I restart the computer, restart the printer, and restart the router if your printer is connected wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable.

I keep my computer on all the time and for some strange reason I sometimes have to restart my computer to properly reconnect to the printer.

If your printer is a network printer, be sure to restart your router. I have an AT&T router and have to reboot it constantly because it just hangs a lot. It is stuck in the wall and therefore gets very hot.

When it overheats, the internet connection is interrupted and the network performance becomes very poor. Restarting definitely helps and usually fixes the printing problem.

The second thing you should always be sure is that all connections are correct. You never know when your two-year-old pushed a USB-connected printer and unplugged it slightly. Every time I have a USB printer connected to my computer and I cannot print, I first check the cables to make sure it is properly connected to the printer and computer port.

For wireless printers, you want to make sure your printer has a valid IP address. You should print a network TCP / IP page from your printer and make sure the IP address is not 169.254.xxx.xxx, because if it does, it means it is connected by getting an IP address from the wireless router.

If your printer is disconnected from the wireless network, you will need to reconnect it. Sometimes this can be done on the printer itself, or you have to run the CD or download the Wireless Setup Utility from the manufacturer’s website.

I did a little research and found several tutorials for several major printer manufacturers that show you how to reconfigure your printer so it is back online.

Please note that if you have ever changed the settings on your router, or if your router was reset or something like that, the printer may lose its connection to the network. In such cases, you will need to follow the links above and add the printer to the network again.

Problems with firewall and antivirus

One of the main sources of frustration is the firewall. Whether it’s built-in Windows or a third-party firewall, your connection to the printer might be blocked.

The best way to find out if a firewall is causing the problem is to simply disable it and then try to print. If you can type, then this is a firewall problem, and then you can see what exceptions you need to add.

Another major source of frustration is overzealousness in antivirus software. When I was working in a corporate environment and we first installed Symantec, it took IT administrators several days to fix all the settings so we could print correctly!

If you recently installed any new antivirus or internet protection software, etc. on your computer, try disabling it and doing a test print.

The following are various problems that occur in Windows. One of the main problems is the print spooler service. It is included in every version of Windows and manages all print jobs. If something goes wrong with the Print Spooler service, you will not be able to print.

One of the problems that you have probably encountered before is when the print job is not removed from the print queue. The print job mostly gets stuck in the print queue. In this case, you must stop the Print Spooler service and manually delete all jobs in the queue. Read my previous post on removing stuck print jobs.

Another problem with the Print Spooler service is that it sometimes doesn’t work or quits unexpectedly. This can happen for a variety of reasons, and you can read my previous post on how to troubleshoot an issue where the print spooler unexpectedly quits.

Drivers

You should also go to Device Manager and make sure the printer is listed there and doesn’t have a yellow exclamation mark, question mark, or red X.

You can also try uninstalling the printer and reinstalling it from Device Manager. Download the latest drivers from your printer manufacturer and install them when you reinstall your printer. If the printer driver is damaged, reinstalling the printer drivers will fix the problem.

Printer problems

Here are some simple things you can check to make sure your printer is working properly:

1. Make sure the printer is turned on.

2. Make sure the status light is green. Most printers have a status light to indicate that the printer is ready to print. Be sure to download the manual for your specific printer model to find out what each status light means.

3. Make sure the printer has paper.

4. Make sure you can print a test page from the printer. If there is something physically wrong with the printer and it cannot print a test page, you cannot force it to print from your computer.

5. Make sure the printer contains ink cartridges or toner and is not empty. I usually only install the printer driver and not the additional software that controls the printer, so my computer doesn’t get a message when the ink is low. I need to manually check my printer and make sure it has ink or toner in it.

6. Is there a paper jam you cannot see? If you try to print envelopes or labels, they may get stuck inside and you may not necessarily see them.

7. Is the cable you are using good? If you have a USB cable, make sure it’s not bent at the ends. If you are using an Ethernet cable, make sure the plastic ends are not cut off and the wires are inserted correctly.

This guide doesn’t cover nearly every possible type of printer problem, but hopefully it can help you troubleshoot most of the really common printer problems.
