How to Turn on Ray Tracing in Minecraft.

Ray tracing is the latest generation rendering technology that brings real-time graphics closer to photorealism. It takes powerful hardware to make everything work well, but if you have a PC, nothing beats visual flair.

Even Minecraft, known for its retro blocky 3D worlds, hasn’t escaped the ray-traced glow. It is not enabled by default, but you will have a magical time if you have the right hardware.

How to Turn on Ray Tracing in Minecraft

What Does Ray Tracing Do in Minecraft?

First, what games usually refer to as real-time ray tracing is a more advanced approach known as path tracing. The general idea between them is the same, but the math used in the path tracing improves the final image. We’ll just focus on “ray tracing” in this article, but it’s worth knowing the term “path tracing” because it comes up all the time in modern graphics discussions.

For a deeper dive into this technology, check out What is ray tracing? & What is path tracing and ray tracing?

In Minecraft, ray tracing makes Minecraft more photorealistic. The light is simulated to act like it does in real life. Object textures in Minecraft have also been replaced with PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials with ray tracing enabled. In other words, wood has the optical characteristics of wood. Metal behaves as it should and so on.

As a result, the Minecraft world, with reflections, shadows, and lighting, looks more like a real Minecraft diorama than a video game. It has to be seen to be believed, so take a look at these screenshots.

Amazing, right? If you want to dive into the world of Minecraft with ray tracing, let’s start by checking if your system meets the minimum requirements.

Minecraft Ray Tracing Requirements

To use ray tracing mode in Minecraft, you must meet the following requirements:

Windows 10 or 11 64-bitNvidia RTX or Radeon RX 6000 GPUs or betterIntel Core i5 equivalent. or better8 GB RAM (more recommended)

Only the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft supports ray tracing at the time of writing. This version is also known as Windows 10 Edition, but it works just as well on Windows 11. The Java version of Minecraft, which is still very popular today, does not support ray tracing.

While the Radeon RX 6000 series cards support hardware accelerated ray tracing, they don’t have dedicated hardware like Nvidia’s RTX cards. If you have a weak RX 6000 GPU, you may experience performance issues with ray tracing in Minecraft, especially if you increase the detail.

It should also be noted that Minecraft Bedrock Edition is available through Xbox Game Pass for PC or Game Pass Ultimate. If you are a first time subscriber, you can usually get the first month for a dollar to try it out and see if it works for you. There is no need to purchase the Bedrock Edition if you previously purchased the Java Edition, unless you want to play with Game Pass.

How to Turn on Ray Tracing in Minecraft

The first thing to do is update your GPU drivers to the latest version. It is also recommended to update Windows if there are any pending updates. Buy Minecraft Bedrock Edition from the Microsoft Store app, or install it from the Xbox app if you’re a Game Pass subscriber.

After starting the game, you will need to sign in with your Microsoft account. If you are already logged in through Windows, this should happen automatically.

If you open Settings > Video and scroll down the settings list, you’ll see Ray Tracing with a toggle in the menu. However, this option is not available and you cannot enable it.

How to Turn on Ray Tracing in Minecraft

To enable it, you’ll need a ray tracing compatible resource pack containing the appropriate texture types and lighting settings. Return to the main menu and open the Marketplace.

Now everything should look completely different. Welcome to the world of Minecraft with ray tracing!

If you want to go back to the ray-traced world, all you need to do is select “New Game” from the main menu and then select the RTX world from the list.

Adjusting Ray Tracing Settings

Unlike games like Cyberpunk 2077, there isn’t much that can be changed in Minecraft’s ray tracing settings. The only things you can control are ray tracing render distance and scaling.

How to Turn on Ray Tracing in Minecraft

As the name suggests, the render distance determines how far the rays are traced. Beyond the render distance you set, no ray tracing is applied. So distant objects may not be reflected in shiny surfaces near you. The higher this parameter, the more effective the graphics will look, especially in open areas lit by the sun.

Eight “chunks” of distance is the default setting and the minimum. We suggest increasing this value one notch at a time until the game becomes unplayable or unstable. Do not worry. You cannot break anything. The worst thing that can happen is that the game will crash and you will know how far you can go with your system.

Scaling simply means that the game is rendered below your screen’s native resolution and then scaled. This is a great way to improve performance, and Minecraft scales well due to its small footprint, so enable this setting if your framerate is low.

Ray Tracing for Minecraft on Xbox Series X

How to Turn on Ray Tracing in Minecraft

While Microsoft has shown off a ray-traced version of Minecraft running on the Xbox Series X as we write this, there is no indication that this will become an official feature. If you want ray-traced Minecraft, the only place is a Bedrock Edition PC.

No Ray-Tracing GPU? Try Alternative Shaders and OptiFine

Not everyone has the ability to buy the latest GPU, or perhaps you prefer the Java Edition of Minecraft, which lacks the microtransactions and locks of Windows 10 and 11.

While you can’t get true ray tracing, there are plenty of alternative shader packs you can download to radically change the look of your game.

“Shaders” are pixel shaders, which are special graphics programs that help determine the exact color and brightness value that each pixel in the game should have. There are shaders to make things look wet and shaders to make things look lit or in shadow. There are shaders for everything you want to achieve on your computer screen.

While traditional shader based graphics don’t look as good as ray tracing, you can get close to it! There are many options and this is not a guide to alternative shaders in Minecraft. However, it is best to start with alternative shaders and Optifine. YouTuber Daniel Plays has a great guide to walk players through this moderately technical process.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

May 4, 2022 by feecalculator_x6rbod

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up.

Apple Macs are usually solid when it comes to reliability, but sometimes you hit the power button and get nothing but a black screen! Your Mac may be turning on but you can’t get it to boot into the OS. If you can’t get your Mac to turn on or boot into macOS, here are a few steps you can follow to get back to work.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

1. Perform a Forced Power Cycle

Macs do not have a physical power switch that turns the power on or off. It’s just a button that sends a command to the computer to turn off, turn on or go to sleep.

Sometimes Macs can get stuck in a situation where this power-up signal is ignored, but in most cases there is a built-in fail-safe mechanism that should turn the system on (or off). All you have to do is press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds, after which the Mac will be forcefully turned off or on depending on its current state.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

Let’s say you see the Apple logo. Congratulations! Your Mac is now on, but you may still experience additional startup issues.

2. Learn the Startup Error Icons

If your Mac turns on but won’t boot to the macOS login screen, you might be experiencing some kind of problem. You will be shown an error icon, which in most cases refers to specific problems.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

You are looking at the prohibition symbol if you see a circle with a line through it. All this means is that the version of macOS on the hard drive your Mac is trying to boot from has a version of macOS that is not compatible with the Mac in question. This usually happens when you’ve replaced hard drives or installed a second drive that your Mac is trying to boot from by mistake.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

The question mark means that you don’t have macOS on your hard drive, or that your Mac just can’t see it. Make sure your hard drive is properly connected (if applicable), or review your boot drive settings, which we’ll cover below.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

If you see a lock icon, it means this Mac has a firmware password set. You will only see this if you are trying to boot from an external drive. You will have to ask whoever set the password to enter it for you or tell you what it is. Similarly, you may see a system lock PIN, which means the Mac has been locked remotely and needs a password.

3. Try to Start the Mac in Safe Mode

There is a special macOS Safe Mode that you can boot into if your Mac turns on but doesn’t finish starting up before logging in or desktop. Safe Mode is a restricted mode in macOS that only loads the essentials. It’s useful to use Mac utilities to troubleshoot your system or restore a Time Machine backup to a point where your computer was working properly. You can also uninstall any apps that might be causing problems.

Activating Safe Mode also automatically clears macOS caches, so you might not have to do anything to fix the problem. Just restart your Mac after entering Safe Mode and if the problem is cache related, everything should work again.

Booting in safe mode depends on whether you have one of the new Apple Silicon Macs or not.

For Intel Mac computers:

Turn on your Mac.Hold down the Shift key. The Apple logo should appear. Keep holding the key.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

When you see the login screen, you can release the Shift key.

For Apple Silicon Mac:

Turn on your Mac and hold down the Shift key.

Keep holding the Shift key until the boot disk selection menu appears.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

Select the correct startup drive and hold Shift. Now select Continue in Safe Mode.

You will know that you are in safe mode because it will be indicated in the upper right corner of the screen in the menu bar.

4. Use Disk Utility to Repair Your Startup Disk

Many startup issues can be resolved simply by using the macOS recovery feature. Press and hold the power button to turn off your Mac to access the recovery menu.

Then turn on your Intel Mac and immediately press and hold Command and the R key to boot into the recovery menu. If you are using an Apple Silicon Mac, simply press and hold the power button while the laptop is off until the menu appears.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

Then select the “Use Disk Utility” option to repair your boot drive. The utility will attempt to fix any errors it finds using the First Aid feature, and then after a reboot, everything should be back to normal. If this fails, you can reinstall macOS.

5. Ensure the Correct Boot Disk is Selected in Startup Disk Preferences

If your Mac is trying to boot from the wrong drive, you need to open the Startup Drive Settings menu and double-check that the settings are correct.

Make sure your Mac is turned off.On an Intel Mac, hold down the Options key when starting your Mac.Hold down the power button on an Apple Silicon Mac until you see Loading Startup Options.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

Look at the selection of possible boot drives and choose the right one.

This is also useful when booting macOS from an external drive.

6. Charge Your Battery!

1 -If you’re having this issue on a MacBook, you’ll first need to connect it to a power source and make sure the battery has enough power to start the system.2- If your Macbook hasn’t been charged for a very long time, the battery voltage may have dropped so much that it can’t start.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

3. – If you see the charging symbol pop up when you plug in the power, then you’re done. Just give it some time and try again. If nothing appears on the screen, don’t despair. Give it half an hour or so to be online and if you still don’t get any response from the system, move on to other troubleshooting steps.

7. Inspect and Test Your Charger and Power Cable

With MacBooks like the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro, charging is done using a USB-C cable and charger. We’ve had problems with Apple cables before showing worn and broken connectors, so check your power cable to make sure it’s not damaged.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

Test your MacBook charger and cable with other USB-C devices (or use a different charger and cable with your Mac) to make sure they work properly.

8. Check Your Monitor Connection

If you’re using a Mac without a built-in monitor (such as a Mac Mini), make sure your monitor is turned on, connected, and working properly. Perhaps nothing happened to your Mac at all, just something went wrong between your Mac and the monitor.

Even if you have a MacBook or iMac with a built-in screen, try connecting it to an external display if the real problem is that your built-in display isn’t working!

9. Try a Different Thunderbolt Port

Your MacBook can be charged from any of its Thunderbolt ports. Try a different port that you normally use if there is something wrong with it. If you have a MacBook model with ports on both the right and left sides of the computer, connect the power cord on both sides because each set of ports uses an independent controller.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

If one of your ports isn’t working, you’ll still need to send your Mac in for a check and repair, but at least if you can turn it back on, you’ll have the option to backup your data.

10. Remove Your USB-C Dock and Peripherals

If you’re powering your MacBook through a dock or USB-C adapter first, remove the dock from the equation as it could be malfunctioning and preventing power from reaching your Mac. If your Mac still won’t start with the dock removed, this is probably not the problem.

In addition to the dock, remove other peripherals that you do not need to work with your Mac to be 100% sure that the problem is not related to one of the connected gadgets.

11. Reset the PRAM &  SMC

PRAM or Preferences RAM is a storage area where your Mac stores control settings. PRAM is similar to NVRAM (Non-Volatile RAM), which retains information even when turned off. If this information is corrupted or otherwise incorrect, it may prevent your system from starting.

The system management controller is a subsystem of your Mac that controls important systems such as cooling, power management, battery management, video mode switching, and some other important functions. If SMC freezes for some reason, your Mac won’t start or show signs of life.

The good news is that there are ways to reset SMC features and PRAM settings on your Mac. Go to How to reset PRAM and SMC on your Mac for more information.

12. Reinstall macOS Using the Recovery Mode

If your Mac turns on but won’t boot into macOS, you can use the recovery menu to fix problems or reinstall macOS. Just be aware that you will probably lose all your user data stored on your local drive. That’s why it’s a good idea to keep all your most important data in iCloud or other cloud storage. You should also set up your Time Machine drive before you run into problems.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

We have several guides to help you restart your Mac to get a fresh and working operating system. First, check out How to reformat a MacBook without a password, especially the Reinstall macOS section. If your Mac is so corrupted that you can’t restore a fresh copy of macOS from an internal drive, learn how to create a macOS installer on a USB drive.

13. Remove The Battery

Some older MacBooks still have removable batteries. If you’re still using one of these Macbooks, you have the option to remove the battery and then hold down the power button to dissipate any residual charge. Then put the battery back in and try turning your Mac back on.

14. Reinstall Your Firmware

In rare cases, when your system lost power during a firmware update or was otherwise interrupted, it could be damaged. This will effectively turn your Mac into a paperweight, but all is not lost!

As long as you have an Apple Silicon Mac (like the M1 Mac) or an Intel Mac with a T2 security chip, you can use a second Mac connected to the internet and the Apple Configurator app to restore the dead Mac’s firmware. Of course, you will need a USB cable to connect the two devices. Thunderbolt 3 cables will not work.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

Apple Configurator

If you cannot access a second Mac, you can restore the firmware at a repair shop, including official Apple stores. The process for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs is slightly different, but the general process works like this:

Apple Configurator is installed on a running Mac.The two computers are connected using a USB cable. The broken computer is rebooted using special key combination. This varies for different Mac models.Apple Configurator is used on a work computer to repair or restore the firmware of a computer that is having problems.

If your Mac turns on and boots normally after this process, you should be home!

15. It’s Dead Jim: Private Repair or Warranty Replacement

If your laptop or desktop Mac won’t turn on no matter what you do, it’s time to seek professional help. With today’s Macs, if a key component, such as the power supply, fails, it’s not possible to simply replace that component unless you have access to the sophisticated hardware and knowledge required to troubleshoot those components.

How to Fix Your Mac Won’t Turn On or Boot Up

If your Mac is still under warranty, your choice is simple. Submit your Mac for evaluation to Apple Support at Genius Bar and Apple will either fix the problem or replace the computer. If your computer is out of warranty, Apple can repair it for a fee. However, Apple’s official repair costs are often so high that it’s cheaper to buy a brand new computer.

The good news is that there are also fantastic private computer repair shops that specialize in repairing Macs, usually for a reasonable fee. You may have to send your Mac away, but it’s worth it to hear that startup beep again!

If you haven’t used AirDrop before, this guide will show you what you need to do to set up Apple’s proprietary file transfer service on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

AirDrop-Compatible Devices

AirDrop is available on all the latest iPhones, iPads and Macs. These include:

iPhone 5 and iPad (3rd generation) or later with iOS 7 or later. To check your iOS or iPadOS version, open the Settings app and go to General > Software Update. Any MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, or Mac Pro 2012 (except 2012 Mac Pro) or later with OS X Yosemite or later. To find the make and year of your Mac, open the Apple menu and select About This Mac.

The sending and receiving devices must be compatible with AirDrop. For example, you can’t send a file from your iPhone to a 2011 or earlier Mac. Also, both devices must not be more than 9 feet apart.

Activate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

If you’re using an AirDrop-enabled iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you should start by making sure your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios are active. This also applies to the other device you want to share content with via AirDrop.

To check the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth status on an iPhone or iPad, start by scrolling down from the top right corner of the screen. Instead, double-click the Home button if your iPhone uses Touch ID. In the Control Center that appears, make sure both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are active. If not, click to activate them.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

On a Mac, select the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth status icons and make sure both radios are active. If you’re using a Mac with macOS Big Sur or later installed, open the Control Center to display the status icons.

[02 – Mac Control Center]

Note. You don’t need to connect your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to a Wi-Fi network to enable AirDrop. Simply activate the Wi-Fi radio.

Set AirDrop Preferences

By activating Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, you can instantly send documents, photos, and links to other Apple devices wirelessly. However, if you plan to receive items via AirDrop, you must adjust your AirDrop settings. They consist of the following:

Nobody/Receiving Disabled: Prevents your iPhone, iPad, or Mac from broadcasting itself as an AirDrop device. You can still send items via AirDrop to another device that has AirDrop set to Contacts Only or Everyone. Contacts Only. Restricts AirDrop receiving to contacts only – You will only appear as an AirDrop device if you appear as a contact on the sender’s device. However, the contact card must contain the email address or phone number associated with your Apple ID. Everyone: Your device is public. Use this option if you want to receive the item via AirDrop without including the sender as a contact. You may be receiving unsolicited AirDrop requests, so it’s best to revert back to Contacts Only or Nobody Accepts as soon as possible. Managing Airdrop Settings – iPhone and iPad

Method 1: Open the Settings app and go to General > AirDrop. Then choose between Receiving Disabled, Contacts Only, and Everyone.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

Method 2: Press and hold any network icon in Control Center to open the AirDrop icon. Then press and hold the AirDrop icon and select AirDrop settings. You can also quickly tap the AirDrop icon to turn AirDrop receiving on or off.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

Manage Airdrop Settings – Mac

Method 1: Open a new Finder window and select AirDrop from the sidebar. Then set the Allow Discovery option to Nobody, Contacts Only, or Everyone.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

Method 2: On Mac computers with macOS Big Sur or later, you can open Control Center from the menu bar and expand AirDrop. Then use the AirDrop toggle to turn AirDrop receipt on or off, or choose between “Contacts Only” and “Everyone”.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

Add or Edit Contacts

If AirDrop is set to Contacts Only, you must add the sender as a contact in the Contacts app to receive items. To add a contact, open the Contacts app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, tap the Add Contact icon, enter your details (must include an email address or phone number), and tap Done.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

If the sender is already listed in the Contacts app, make sure the card contains the email address or phone number associated with the sender’s iCloud account. After that, it is recommended to sync contacts to iPhone and Mac or vice versa.

Send Files via AirDrop

AirDrop is accessed through a shared sheet in most native and third-party apps on iPadOS and iOS devices. For example, in the Photos app, select the photo or photos (tap the Select button in the top right corner of the screen) that you want to share and tap the Share icon (the box with the arrow coming out from the top). Then click AirDrop and select the person or device you want to send the items to.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

Note. When sharing a web page through a browser, you don’t have to select anything. AirDrop will automatically capture the URL of the open tab.

The same goes for a Mac with standard apps like Photos, Safari, and Notes — find and click the Share button, then select AirDrop.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

In the AirDrop pop-up that appears, select the device you want to share files or links with.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

You can also transfer files and folders to macOS devices by dragging the items you want to the recipient’s portrait in the AirDrop window in the Finder.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

Again, the recipient’s AirDrop settings must be set to Contacts Only or Everyone. If it’s the former, your name or email address must be present in their Contacts app. The recipient must also accept the transfer. If you’re sending AirDrop files to your devices, you don’t need to receive anything.

Receive Files via AirDrop

If you want to receive files via AirDrop, AirDrop settings must be set to Contacts Only or Everyone. When using the former, just be sure to include the sender’s email address or phone number in the Contacts app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

When a person transfers documents, photos, and links via AirDrop, your Apple device will alert you with a prompt or notification—just tap Accept.

Turn AirDrop On / Off - Apple iPhone

On iPhone and iPad, incoming items usually open in the appropriate app (such as Photos, Notes, or Safari) or you’re asked to save them to a specific location in the Files app. On a Mac, the AirDrop transfer will appear in your Downloads folder. Again, if you’re receiving an AirDrop from a device you own, you don’t need to accept the transfer.

AirDrop Setup Complete

As you’ve just seen, AirDrop is ridiculously easy to use thanks to its own set of privacy restrictions. If you also have an Android device, you can learn about a similar service – Neighborhood Sharing.

However, if you encounter any problems with AirDrop, you should know how to troubleshoot the sending or receiving device. For example, activating Personal Hotspot on your iPhone or iPad may prevent you from sending or receiving files. For a complete list of possible causes and solutions, see our Troubleshooting Guide for AirDrop on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Turn Off Automatic Updates on iPhone.

Phones are set to automatically install software and app updates, although some iOS updates need to be installed manually. Convenient to keep your iPhone and apps up to date. However, there are times when running these updates manually is more beneficial.

We’ll walk you through some of the benefits of manually installing iOS and app updates. You will also learn how to turn off automatic updates on iPhone.

Turn Off Automatic Updates on iPhone

Why You Should Turn Off Automatic Updates

The earliest or first version of iOS updates is often unstable and full of bugs. Therefore, I prefer to update my iPhone after about two “point releases” after the first major update.

A “spot release” describes minor and incremental updates to a major or existing software update. Spot releases are often delivered with bug fixes, security updates, and problem fixes in the main update.

For context, iOS 14 had 16 versions: iOS 14 was a major update, and the rest were dotted.

Turning off automatic updates also provides data savings benefits, especially if your internet plan is limited or limited. IOS updates sometimes take up gigabytes of data. You will reach your data usage limit faster than usual if your iPhone installs new updates without your permission.

Sometimes there is nothing serious about it. You may just want to turn off automatic updates because you are not ready to upgrade to a new operating system. Or perhaps you prefer the older version of iOS to the latest iteration.

How To Turn Off Automatic Updates on iPhone

Turning off automatic iOS updates puts you in the driver’s seat. You get complete autonomy as to which iOS versions / updates are installed on your iPhone and when they are installed.

Open the Settings app and select General. Click Software Update. Select “Automatic Updates”.

iOS automatically downloads new software updates by default when your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network. It also automatically installs an update overnight if your iPhone is charging and connected to Wi-Fi. Disable the “Install iOS Updates” option to prevent iPhone from updating automatically.

Disable Download iOS Updates to disable automatic iOS updates. This will also disable the “Install iOS Updates” option.

Your iPhone will no longer download and install iOS updates without your permission, even if you’re connected to Wi-Fi.

Disable automatic updates in iOS 14

The steps and on-screen instructions for turning off automatic updates in iOS 14 are slightly different from iOS 15 and other versions of iOS.

Go to Settings> General> Software Update> Set Up Automatic Updates (or Automatic Updates) and turn off the Download iOS Updates and Install iOS Updates options.

Make sure your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Otherwise, the Download and Install button will be inactive. The message “Your software has been updated” will appear on the screen if your iPhone has the latest version of iOS.

Turn Off Automatic App Updates on iPhone

iPhone downloads and installs iOS updates only over a Wi-Fi connection. This is not the case with application updates. The iOS App Store allows you to install new versions of your iPhone app over cellular and Wi-Fi.

Many developers recommend installing app updates. But that’s not what we recommend if your cellular / data plan is limited and you have a lot of apps installed on your iPhone.

Also, not all app updates are stable and hassle-free. Before updating the application on your device, it is recommended to make sure that the new version of the application is free of errors and problems. You don’t want to dwell on one problematic app as it is not easy to rollback an app to a previous version or install an older version in iOS.

We highly recommend turning off automatic app updates and manually updating apps after making sure they are working properly.

Open Settings, select App Store, and disable Apps and App Updates under Automatic Downloads. Then go to the Cellular Data section and turn off automatic downloads.

Enable Low Power Mode

Activating Low Power Mode is a clever way to (temporarily) pause automatic iOS and app updates. IOS Low Power Mode is designed to reduce battery drain on iPhone apps and processes. When you enable Low Power Mode, iOS temporarily disables automatic downloads and other power-hungry processes running in the background.

To activate Low Power Mode, go to Settings> Battery and turn on Low Power Mode.

A faster alternative is to open the iPhone Control Center and tap the battery icon. The battery icon changes to amber and the Control Center displays a Low Power Mode: Enabled warning.

If you can’t find the battery icon, customize iPhone Control Center to turn on power saving mode. In iOS 15, go to Settings> Control Center and tap the green plus icon next to Power Saving Mode. This will add a power saving mode shortcut to the Control Center.

For iPhones running iOS 14 or earlier, go to Settings> Control Center> Customize Control Center and select Power Saving Mode.

When Low Power Mode is enabled, Auto Boot options are immediately disabled and grayed out in the Settings menu. You should see the message “Automatic downloads are not available in low power mode” under the options.

Note. IOS will automatically turn off Low Power Mode when your iPhone is charged above 80%. If this happens, you will need to turn on Low Power Mode again. Otherwise, automatic downloads and updates will resume in the background.

Update Your iPhone (and Apps) Manually

Downloading updates at your convenience helps you reduce data consumption, extend battery life, and make sure you install stable and error-free software on your iPhone. Again, make sure you do a comprehensive check before manually installing any update. Read user reviews and feedback from Apple Support Communities, check App Store ratings, and read reviews on other trusted tech forums or websites.
